How great is it to throw things in a heap and leave them...and have them turn into something useful?
I wouldn't actually know: nine months of dedicated composting has produced only a gloopy mess with flies galore and the occasional rat. Damn. I’ve been carefully cutting up paper and grass to try and balance the ‘green’ items with ‘brown’…but have yet to notice a transformation (took me months to work out that green grass is categorized as 'brown'!). Not to dampen the composting-spirits…but now I understand why there are entire books written on the topic of 'how to compost'. Hopefully the warm weather will help create wonderful earthy compost…
