How exciting to have another knitter at work! Charlotte's lent me this wonderful book and it's beautiful patterns are making me feel a little better (the heavy antibiotics are helping too, I expect).
But my eyes started watering when I started doing the sums: a hefty 55 balls is needed...and Rowan HandKnit DK cotton is suggested! Blimey.
So, my initial plan is to knit a mini version of this in some cheaper wool without the beads. A little sad to leave the little jewels off but I want to give it to my extremely pregnant friend, for her impending little one, and I don't want any of beads to be chewed off by a little mouth. There's no point knitting it out of anything too precious either as it will, no doubt, need washing aplenty once in use...
